Aaaand they don’t fit. Why, like, why design a sealed beam replacement that doesn’t fit into a sealed beam housing?

I’ve already returned them and got my refund, thankfully customer service was good at the vendor from which I ordered the lights.

Any Oppos know of 7x6" sealed beam replacements that DO fit in a pop-up housing? I’d like LEDs, since I drive a lot and I want my small car to be maximally visible to others.

I think it's entertaining that jeep wrangler lights happen to fit in NA Miata housings. And this means the huge aftermarket support for jeeps can apply to the Miata to get properly working lights. Too bad you have squareish lights instead of round ones!

You won’t find a better option

Oh wait you said 7x6.... Uhm. Use the extra inch for some cooling ducts?

Another thing to keep in mind is that assuming you get a good quality LED sealed beam replacement, it's going to be heavy. Much, much heavier than OEM. Make sure your pop-up motor can handle it

It seems the rectangular ones have different housings depending on the vehicle. Most vehicles with the 7x6" sealed beams in a fixed location, i.e. Jeep XJ Cherokee, seem to have more space in the housing. The black heat sink area of the LED units bumps against the pop-up buckets in my MR2.

I want rally lights too, but the DOT-approved headlights come first since most of my daily driving is on public roads.

The units I ordered initially weren’t much heavier than the stock sealed beams, weight doesn’t seem to be too much of an issue.

These GE ones appear to be the same proportions as mine; I’ve seen sealed beams labeled as 7x5 and 7x6 but both are labe led as direct H6054 size replacements. The stock ones in my car are labeled H6054 too.

Thank you for the link; I’ll be investigating them further for sure!

I’ve got the 7" round versions of the GE units in the Miata.

They’re solid aluminum, built like a tank and have a lifetime warranty. They're also about 10 pounds each, which is why I brought it up! Pricey, but the actual output is phenomenal, miles ahead of anything else I've seen short of an offroad lightbar/full pod light kit.

I more than at little confused by the sizes, it looks like this should be H6054 assemblies, but those seem to be listed as 7x6 or 7x5 (or both). Those seem really expensive though, even if you score a steep discount:

Yep, super pricey. I did score a deep discount by waiting about 6 months for a price drop, but even so. Still, one of my best purchases for the Miata, and the lifetime gaurentee which is apparently a no-questions-asked-free-replacement-free-shipping-both-ways kind of thing gives me some real peice of mind.

And yeah, agreed on the sizing concerns. It's weird. That's why I like round headlights!
